IRN, Independant Radio News, has been supplied to the UK commercial radio industry for the last 16 years by the TV news organisation ITN. IRN currently provides news to around 250 UK commercial radio stations.
From Tuesday 3rd March 2009, this agreement comes to an end, and the commercial radio news service will be provided by Sky News.
The first Sky News report happens at 2pm next Tuesday. Three minute reports will be dropped in favour of two minute bulletins.
News intro and outros will be changing too:
New Intro: “From the Sky News Centre at (time)”
New Outro: “That’s the latest. I’m (newsreader’s name)”
Radio stations that currently get their service via the Hotbird satellite should note that the Eurostat Hotbird 7A will be turned off on 3rd March. Sky News will be available via the Astra 2B satellite.
