Nookie TV Box offered a rather specialist TV-over-Internet service to UK adults. Here, you’ll find details of the Nookie Box IPTV set-top box and service.
Here at Radio and Telly, we’re big on TV over Internet – it’s a great way of watching what you want, when you want. The Nookie TV Box service was designed to fill a gap in the online digital TV market – adult entertainment on your TV over the Internet.
Update May 2010 – Nookiebox CeasesThe following message appeared on the Nookiebox website at the start of May 2010:
Although the service has been discontinued, information on the service will remain here for reference. This page is now out of date and is no longer being updated. |
What is the Nookie TV Box?
In December 2009, a new player joined the UK Internet TV market, offering “specialist” adult content.
We don’t normally talk about adult content providers on this website, but we’ll make an exception for Nookie TV, as it’s something new in the IPTV market.
The Nookie TV Box plugs into a home broadband connection via an Ethernet socket, and provides access to multiple streams of adult content. The box is connected to your TV set and the content can be viewed on your TV at a time of your choosing.
The Nookie TV service is available on a subscription basis, and there’s no long-term contract – you can even get your first month, and the set-top box, for free.

Nookie TV Box Requirements
- A Broadband Internet connection (1.5 Mbps download speed or better)
- A TV set with either SCART, component, s-video or Composite inputs.
The Nookie TV box is provided free of charge to subscribers.
Note that the Nookie box requires connection to a Broadband router via the Ethernet socket on the box – wireless wi-fi streaming isn’t supported.
If you need to connect an IPTV box such as the Nookie TV box into a router that’s in a different room, consider making use of a pair of Home Plugs, which send data safely over a home’s mains wiring.
Nookie TV Box Review
We’ve not yet got hands-on (so to speak) with the Nookie TV Box, and haven’t sampled the content for ourselves, so sadly we can’t offer too much in the way of a full review. What we can say though, is that those looking to get adult content on their TV set should note that there are some strong selling points for this solution:
- The service is 24 hours a day (unlike satellite and cable services)
- As the content doesn’t come via a satellite or cable TV service, it’s not subject to the same broadcast legislation and content restrictions as the likes of the Adult Channel and Red Hot satellite TV subscription channels.
- Over 20 channels are available – no need for viewing cards or complicated satellite setups
Without having tried the service ourselves, it’s hard to comment, but a couple of the online reviews we’ve seen for Nookie TV indicate that the service offers a high quality viewing experience, with a good choice of ‘specialist’ content.
Favourite feature for us has to be the large and friendly “Panic” button at the bottom of the remote control. A nice touch!
