Apologies, but the Radio & Telly Forum is not available at this time.
The old YaBB forum was not functioning properly, preventing new users from signing up. Work on the old forum would be expensive and time consuming, so we are looking at a new Forum solution. We’re also keen to get your views on whether the forum is still needed these days, and what direction you’d like to see the forum take.
If you’re interested in a forum for this site, please add a comment below. Options are:
- Restore the old YaBB forum and the old out-dated content. We’d be looking for donations to help fund this work
- Create a new streamlined forum
- Forum no longer required
When responding, please include your old forum ID if you have one.
Thanks for your interest.
The RT Forum contains important information on various topics of interest and these cannot be duplicated elsewhere. It is illogical to abandon the forum just because people wish to join it but can’t do that. The access to the forum should be restored as soon as possible. As the most frequent member updating with special discounts to help people save money, it follows that the money saved is then available to update their Radio and TV devices and that will include the latest 4K Smart TVs with an incredible range of extra Internet streaming services. We need updates to continue for Amazon and eBay, Sky and Virgin Media. We need updates on what TVs are available on QVC. We need the links to be kept available for Freesat and Freeview for reception as well as signal boost equipment. The forum provides details not found elsewhere. Special tricks and tips that are shared thanks to YouTube and Google searches. So it makes sense to keep the forum as it was. The links that I add to the forum could lead to some financial support for the forum to continue. That’s why I add the ones I can to provide current discount deals and technical advice. We often need to learn workarounds as companies change their equipment or update their software. Such equipment is going to be around for years. So it becomes essential to maintain access.
Please restore forum access so I can sign in and provide several recent updates. As well as find the recent posts which I can update as well.
Please also note that a new forum can easily provide a series of links to each of the RT forums main topics just as they exist now. In the meantime, I need restored access as soon as possible.
Thanks.
Regards, Denis.
Restoring the old (broken) forum would be a time-consuming job, and as the forum is free, we have no way of funding this work. If you and other members of the forum would be interested in making a donation to help cover the effort in trying to revive it, please let me know. Alternatively, we are able to set up a new, more reliable forum.
I would be interested in option 2, a new streamlined forum.
My user-name, ID is; frank59
Thanks Frank.
I would appreciate the forum being restored as soon as possible
even if it doesn’t get activated to add more posts for a while.
I want to access the links that are still online by the thousand.
Can you do this? Google search doesn’t access everything.
Please email when the forum is made available.
As above, we will need some donations from the forum community to cover the costs in trying to get the old (broken) forum working. Let’s see who comes forward with offers of donations
Email your Paypal email address and what you need to get the RT Forum back as it was. Also provide the new forum URL so we can access that. It may be possible to copy and paste relevant content to the new forum. I need to know if the new forum will be hosted on the present website or if you intend to create a new co-uk domain. The cost of co-uk domains is about £10 to £15 a year. If you can host on the present domain then you could save a lot of money. As you should know, I have been saving money by using shopping discounts. If you do the same as I do then you could save money that way as well. The RT Forum included your affiliation adverts as a way to support the RT Forum, so will you set those up with the new forum as well? As for the RT Forum, is it to continue as a live forum or as an archived forum allowing no new posts or new topics? Will we be able to link to and fro between the two forums so we can refer to a topic that’s already covered and especially so for TV equipment setups and updates? Alternatively are we allowed to make a backup clone copy of the RT Forum based on copyright permission, as it is without it getting fixed for new members to join? At the moment, it’s like the BBC Licence Tax being charged so we can access content. So what can we do even if we donate or pay?
