The SwitchHelp Site was designed for the 2012 Switchover. The Switchover is not complete, so this site is no longer maintained. We keep it live as it still may contain some useful historical information. See SwitchHelp Index for a list of all pages. |
General Freeview questions
This site answers a whole lot of questions about Freeview. This page lists answers to questions that we can’t find a home for on one of our other FAQ pages, or on our main Freeview page.
Freeview Channel 800: Kevan Squires asks: "some of my channel numbers have changed to the 800’s. Why ?".
This often happens if you are in range of two Freeview transmitters. Let’s say you were half-way between two transmitters… when you scan for channels, you see two BBC One channels, each from a different transmitter. Your box doesn’t know what to do, so stores numbers in the 800 range. You can either ignore these channels, renumber the channels manually (not supported on all boxes), or perform a channel re-scan, to get the box to store the channels again.
