Phone 150 and learn what’s possible and what’s helpful or nothing like it.
Explain circumstances eg on benefits, living alone, reduced use of TV set-top box, etc.
virginmedia–com to check your contract and upgrade offers but still phone 150.
Remember that NOWTV’s website could offer some discounts on the Sky Cinema channels rather than what we could be paying Virgin Media or Sky for their very long contracts and cancellation fees.
nowtv–com for short contracts and cancellations that could then offer extra discounts.
If we register for a few NOW TV accounts with different emails then we may get extra discounts that way, too.

The MoneySavingExpert email has a Virgin Media M250 speed with a phone line rental and the deal for new customers reduces to about £23 a month.
The basic deal on the website is about £32 instead.

I phoned 150 to ask for a better deal for me and couldn’t get any better than £2. That’s about £70 a year than I’m paying for the M125 Broadband and phone services. It’s about £110 more than new customers would pay for a year but the contract is 18 months so that’s £160 more. Without a significant discount for existing customers there’s no incentive to upgrade at all.
Even so, Customer Services informed me that customer offers change every 2 weeks or so and that I could try again each month until the contract ends next year.
That could be of some use even if nowhere near paying that £22 a month new customers can get.

On the 3rd of March 2025 I saw a TV advert for new customers for Virgin Media’s 125 Broadband service. I don’t know if the landline phone rental was included in that £27 a month deal. I checked my latest bill and I paid £26 a month by getting a £30 discount but that ends mid-April 2025.
I phoned Virgin Media Customer Service on 150. I explained my account and my finances to get a retentions department discount rather than getting a deal for £41 a month! I was offered the same services at £32 for the next 13 months and then £35 for the rest of the new 18-month contract. That was the best deal I was offered and there seemed no way around that increase.
I couldn’t consider a lower price for Broadband only as I need the phone just to get one time codes for different logins to work. Answer the phone and press the number keys to get the logins to work or the payments security setups to work.
There’s the situation across the UK for some of us paying extraordinary bills like we’re losing at Monopoly every time we want to pay LESS for LESS or exactly the SAME but compelled to pay MORE for LESS or exactly the SAME.
So I’m compelled to pay an extra £6 a month for 13 months and £9 extra for 3 months over the 18-month deal. That’s over £100 MORE for exactly the SAME, but it would have been complete chaos and misery paying £41 a month if I had accepted that without any challenge at all.
Phone 150 if with Virgin Media because their prices increase every single year and discounts get withdrawn, too.
Some deals are shared on the website:
I suggest phoning 150 instead to get a retentions deal and especially so if a long term customer, a pensioner or disabled or living alone. The UK Benefits aren’t looking anywhere near enough for certain people who lost out on the Winter Fuel Discount as well.
Even though I cancelled Sky Signature hoping to save £16 a month and about £20 from April 2025, I still can’t avoid increased charges elsewhere. That’s why I inform others of the discounts I get online when I can. I feel that I must warn people about increases such as the utility bills and their new tariffs.
