Negiotiations are now complete for the TV rights to coverage of the 2010 to 2013 Premier League matches.
The coverage was split into six pacakges, and BSkyB’s snapped up 5 of them for the sum of £1.62 billion.
With Sky Sports snapping up so much of the coverage, it means that Setanta Sports loses 50% of match coverage from next year, and will only be able to show 23 games per season – half of their existing coverage.
Setanta says: “Setanta’s rights to televise Barclays Premier League games remains at the heart of the company’s broad offering of great sport. This includes the FA Cup, home nations World Cup Qualifiers and England home friendlies, the Scottish Premier League, the UEFA Cup from next season, top-flight boxing, Indian Premier League Twenty20 cricket, US PGA golf, UFC and, from 2010, Guinness Premiership rugby.”
